Covid-19 Safety Updates
As the Covid-19 pandemic continues, we here at the ECC want you to know that the safety of our children, teachers, staff, and families are of utmost importance. With guidance from The Childcare Council of Westchester, our nurse consultant, and Quality Stars NY, we have instituted many changes throughout the school, including enhanced cleaning procedures, shifts in pick-up and drop-off schedules, and the use of personal protective equipment, including masks.

Here's a look at some of the changes we have put in place for the 2020-2021 school year:

Cleaning & Disinfecting
  • Classrooms have been re-vamped to spread out materials so that children social distance.
  • Classroom spaces and touch points are throughly cleaned every night.
  • There will be no dress-up clothing, soft toys, pillows, stuffed toys or carpets in the classrooms. Anything that cannot be disinfected will be removed.
  • There will be no self-serve snacks or shared water pitchers. We encourage each child to bring his/her own water bottle. If possible, send in a bottle with a mouth piece that is covered when not in use.
  • Toys will be switched out during the day. The used toys will be disinfected. After use, books will be stored in a closed bag or closed  container and put away for 48 hours prior to reuse.
  • The playground and outdoor equipment is disinfected each weeknight evening.

Health & Safety
  • Teachers and staff will be wearing face masks all day.
  • All adults, including parents, must wear a face mask when inside the lobby or the building.
  • We recommend children in the 3's and 4's class wear masks. We understand how difficult it is and will support each child's tolerance levels.
  • Children and adults—including teachers—must have their temperature taken each day as they enter the building or during car line. Parents may use their own thermometers. We ask that you also take your child's temperature prior to leaving home so that you can remain at home if your child has a temperature of 100 or more. Please be honest so that everyone can stay safe and we can remain open.
  • An intake form, including listing your child's temperature, and answering a series of questions confirming that you and your child are symptom free, have not been exposed to Covid-19, and have not traveled to a hot spot will be submitted at drop-off every day. A copy of the form can be found here.
  • Innovative ways will be utilized to assist children with social distancing. It will all be done in fun.
  • We encourage you to continue to have your child social distance when outside the ECC so that everyone can stay safe inside the ECC!

Pick-up & Drop-off + Car Line
  • Times will be staggered depending on the child's age:
    • 4's: drop-off at 8:45am; pick-up at 11:45am
    • 3's: drop-off at 9am; pick-up at 12pm
    • 2's: drop-off at 9:15am; pick-up at 12:15pm
  • Drop-off:
    • Students will be dropped-off via car line. Please bring a filled-out Daily Screening Protocol with you each day at drop off. You can record your child's temperature, or we can do it for you.
    • You should have received two laminated, color-coded sheets with your child's age and teachers' name in the mail. Please place one in your front passenger window to help easily identify your child's classroom.
    • If your child's carseat is on the driver's side of the car, please un-hook your child once you are at the front of the car-line. This prevents us from having to be on the traffic side of the driveway and from having to reach into your car or van.
  • Pick-up:
    • Parents must socially distance at pick-up.
    • Your child's teacher will let you know where the designated pick-up place will be for your child.

Outdoor Space
  • Outdoor time is encouraged as much as possible. We have two new grassy areas that were given to us by the church that have been fenced-in with temporary fencing.
  • The playground and outdoor equipment is disinfected each weeknight evening.

Creative Kids & Activities
  • Creative Kids topics have been revamped—and are better than ever! Learn more about our daily offerings here.
  • Children will remain in their own classrooms for any of the enrichment programs.
  • Reminder: Enrichments can be purchased for the year or by the day and can be reserved online.
