Licensing and Distinction
NY State Office of Children and Family Services Licensing

The Early Childhood Center is licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.  We must renew our license with the Office of Children and Family Services every four years.  During site visits, the licensor assigned to our program will review all aspects of our program including child health policies, staff training, infection control procedures and emergency procedures.

In addition, ECC is registered by the New York State Education Department.

QUALITYStarsNY Participation

Our site is participating in QUALITYstarsNY. QUALITYstarsNY is a voluntary quality improvement program for child care programs. Programs participating in QUALITYstarsNY are committed to improving the quality of care they provide for children. Only 400 programs are able to participate at this time, and we are one of them!

What is QUALITYstarsNY?
QUALITYstarsNY is a quality rating and improvement system designed to ensure that the New York's youngest learners have the opportunity for high quality early learning experiences. The purpose of this voluntary system is to:
  1. Increase program quality in all types of early learning settings - schools, child care centers and day care homes - throughout the state
  2. Give parents the information they need to make a more informed choice when selecting programs for their children.

How does QUALITYstarsNY work?
Participating programs go through an assessment process
using the QUALITYstarsNY program standards. Participants are held to standards in the following categories:
  • learning environment
  • family engagement
  • staff qualifications and experience
  • management and leadership
Based on the assessment results, we will work with a Quality Improvement Specialist to create a Quality Improvement Plan that outlines short-term and long-term goals and action items.

What are the benefits to participating in QUALITYstarsNY?
Participation in QUALITYstarsNY yields a number of tangible incentives for programs. Based on the Quality Improvement Plan, for example, we can earn at least $500 to purchase supplies and materials.  We also can gain access to Quality Scholars funding for professional development, including trainings and coursework.

We are excited to be working with QUALITYstarsNY to continuously improve the quality of care we provide for your children.
