Parents

Family participation is essential in providing the best overall educational experience for children. We are committed to maintaining open communication with parents and we encourage family involvement in order to create a partnership between home and school.

Two Parent-Teacher conferences are scheduled each school year. However, parents are always welcome to speak to their child’s teachers or to the director with any concerns that they might have about their child’s progress or adjustment to the program.

Parents—and grandparents!—are frequent participants in the classroom. They will visit to read a book, plan an art project, introduce a particular holiday or even discuss their profession or hobby. There are also volunteer opportunities at our many events throughout the year and by becoming a member of the ECC Advisory Council.

The ECC
Parent Advisory
Council

The ECC Parent Advisory Council is composed of ECC parent volunteers and members of Memorial United Methodist Church. It is an integral part of the school community, hosting fun events, fundraisers, running the school’s social media, and acting as a sounding board for parents and families.

The Advisory Council meets monthly. All parents are welcome and encouraged to find out more about how they can become involved with the Council and volunteering at the ECC.

  • PARENT TESTIMONIALS

“On a scale of 1 to 5 (with 5 being the best), I would give the ECC on 5 without hesitation for the following reasons:

    -
Teachers - Unlike many daycare/preschool that I hear about, the average tenure of the teachers at the ECC is approximately 18 years. The teachers at the ECC truly love the students, and take the time to help them to develop. My daughter hugs each and every one of her teachers every time she sees them.
    -
Loving and supportive environment - My daughter has grown so much both socially and academically since being at the ECC. Being on the younger side (with a Nov. birthday), her social skills were lacking. Her teachers took the time to work with her at her level and always make her feel comfortable. In addition, the parent community is absolutely wonderful.
    -
Programs - I love the creative kids program at the ECC. Every day of the week has a different theme-Book club, Art, Math, Music and Science. At just 3 years old, my daughter already loved math (especially addition). The school also brings in other teachers to do yoga, nature etc. with the students.”

“My children have attended this school for the past 2 years and I can only say wonderful things about it! Having a graduate and another currently attending, I can attest to the high quality of care you will receive at the Early Childhood Center at Memorial United Methodist Church. The administration is very responsive, answering questions quickly. The facility is beautiful, with 2 large playgrounds, as well as 2 auxiliary play areas. Best of all, the teachers are nurturing and attuned to every child's needs. They are patient and responsible, most having 5 plus years experience in the field of early childhood education. Plus, the schools hours are very flexible, accommodating for all family needs. Truly a magical place!”

“The search for the right nursery school for my daughter ended the moment I stepped foot into ECC. This school has become our home away from home. It is a place where my toddler has grown and so have I. It is a place where every staff member makes you feel like your child is their favorite. I could not imagine this incredible journey anywhere else.”
